Introduction
Slow Burn Pilates is a physiotherapist-led Reformer and Clinical Pilates studio at Level 1, Racecourse Village, 188 Nudgee Road, Ascot QLD 4007. Slow Burn Pilates is operated by Magnus Holdings Pty Ltd, alongside Brisbane Physiotherapy & Podiatry.
All classes are programmed and taught by qualified physiotherapists. Our classes focus on mind-body awareness, controlled movement and time under tension to build strength, stability and mobility in a small-group setting, using Cadillac Reformer Pilates equipment.
Reformer Pilates classes follow a set program, with options to modify or progress each exercise.
Clinical Pilates begins with a one-on-one consult with a Brisbane Physiotherapy & Podiatry physiotherapist, followed by an individually tailored program completed in a supervised class.
General terms
By booking or participating in any Slow Burn Pilates class, you agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions ("Terms").
In these Terms, "we", "us" and "our" refer to Slow Burn Pilates and Magnus Holdings Pty Ltd. "You" refers to the person booking or participating in a class.
We may amend these Terms from time to time. The updated version will be published on our website and/or booking platform, the Slow Burn Pilates app. Continued booking or participation after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
Nothing in these Terms excludes, restricts or modifies any right or remedy you may have under the Australian Consumer Law or any other law that cannot be excluded.
Assumption of risk
You acknowledge that physical exercise, including Pilates on Cadillac Reformer equipment, involves inherent risks. These may include, but are not limited to, muscle soreness, strains, aggravation of pre-existing conditions, falls and other injuries.
While classes are led by qualified physiotherapists and designed to be safe and supported, you agree to follow all instructions given in class. Failing to do so may increase your risk of injury. You participate voluntarily and are responsible for your own safety and wellbeing during classes.
Health screening and medical disclosure
Before your first class, you must complete our pre-exercise health questionnaire. You confirm that you are medically fit to participate and have disclosed all relevant medical conditions, injuries, physical limitations and health concerns.
It is your responsibility to:
Tell your instructor about any injuries, medical conditions, pregnancy, post-partum status or changes to your health, before class
Follow the professional guidance provided during classes
Stop exercising immediately and tell your instructor if you experience pain, dizziness or discomfort
Reformer Pilates classes follow a set group program. They are not suited to complex injuries, acute pain, or conditions that need highly individualised or ongoing one-on-one modifications. Clinical Pilates is recommended in these cases.
Slow Burn Pilates classes do not replace individual medical assessment, diagnosis or treatment.
Release of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Slow Burn Pilates, Brisbane Physiotherapy & Podiatry and Magnus Holdings Pty Ltd are not liable for any injury, loss, damage or expense arising from your participation in classes. This does not apply where liability cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law or other applicable legislation.
Indemnity
You agree to indemnify Slow Burn Pilates, Brisbane Physiotherapy & Podiatry and Magnus Holdings Pty Ltd against any claims, damages or expenses arising from your participation in classes, except to the extent caused by our negligence or a breach of duty that cannot lawfully be excluded.
Photography and media
We may take photographs or video in the studio for marketing, educational or promotional purposes, including on our website and social media.
If you do not wish to appear in any media, please tell us in writing before class, or let your instructor know on the day. We will respect your request.
Intro offers, casual classes, class packs and memberships
All purchases
All classes must be paid for before attendance.
Classes can be purchased as an intro offer, a casual class, a class pack or a membership.
All purchases are non-transferable and may only be used by the purchaser.
Intro offers, casual classes, class packs and memberships can be used for both Reformer and Clinical Pilates classes. Clinical Pilates requires an initial one-on-one assessment, which is charged separately. Clinical Pilates participants are required to have a program review with one of our physiotherapists every 12 weeks.
Inclusions and expiry periods are shown on our website and booking platform and may change from time to time. Changes will not affect purchases already made.
Unless required by law, no refunds, transfers, suspensions or extensions are offered for change of mind, scheduling issues or non-attendance.
If we cancel a class, the session will be returned to your account.
We may review and increase our prices once a year, in line with the Consumer Price Index (CPI) or at our discretion. First Loves foundation membership rates will only increase once a year, in line with CPI. We will give members at least 30 days’ written notice of any increase to membership fees. The new fee will take effect on the date we nominate, which will be after the 30-day notice period or after your initial 16-week minimum term, whichever is later. If you don’t wish to continue at the new price, you can cancel your membership before the new fee takes effect. Price changes don’t affect class packs already purchased.
Intro offer
The intro offer (3 classes for $90) is available to new clients only and is limited to one per person.
Intro offer classes must be used within 14 days of your first class. Unused classes expire after this period.
Casual classes and class packs
Casual classes and class packs are paid as a one-off payment at the time of purchase.
Each casual class and class pack has a set expiry period, starting from the date of purchase. Unused classes expire after this period and are forfeited.
Single class: 7 days | 5 class pack: 6 weeks | 10 class pack: 12 weeks | 20 class pack: 26 weeks
Class packs cannot be paused, held or extended, except where required by law.
Class pack holders may attend a maximum of one class per day.
All classes must be booked in advance, subject to availability.
Memberships
Term and payments
Memberships begin with a 16-week minimum term. After the minimum term, they continue on a rolling week-to-week basis until cancelled.
Membership fees are charged weekly by direct debit. Your first payment is taken when you join.
Membership weeks run Monday to Sunday. No split or partial-week payments are available.
Unused classes do not roll over to the following week.
Members may attend a maximum of one class per day.
You must keep sufficient funds available for each scheduled payment. Failed payments may incur a dishonour fee of $25, and bookings may be suspended until payment is made.
Cancelling your membership
Memberships cannot be cancelled during the 16-week minimum term, except where required by law.
After the minimum term, you can cancel at any time with 7 days' notice, via the Slow Burn Pilates app or by emailing hello@slowburnpilates.com.au. Any payments that fall within the notice period are still payable.
Pausing your membership
Medical pauses: memberships can be paused for medical reasons, such as injury or surgery, with a supporting medical certificate. Medical pauses must be for a minimum of 1 week and a maximum of 4 weeks. Requests must be made by emailing hello@slowburnpilates.com.au before the pause begins. We will action medical pause requests within 7 days of receiving them, and any payments due within this processing window may still be charged.
Lifestyle pauses: memberships can be paused up to twice per calendar year for lifestyle reasons, such as holidays or work travel. The total time paused for lifestyle reasons cannot exceed four weeks per calendar year. Requests must be made at least 14 days before the pause begins, by emailing hello@slowburnpilates.com.au.
No fees are charged while your membership is paused. A pause during the minimum term extends the minimum term by the same period.
Changing your membership
You can upgrade your membership at any time. Downgrades are available after the minimum term, with 7 days' notice.
Private health rebates
Classes may be eligible for private health rebates, depending on your health fund and level of cover. We recommend checking your eligibility with your fund.
After each class you attend, including classes from packs and memberships, we will email you an invoice to submit to your health fund.
Clinical Pilates classes are billed under item number 560. Reformer Pilates classes are billed under item number 561.
Timetable
We may update the timetable, including class types, times and instructors, from time to time based on business needs and client demand. Changes will be communicated via our website and booking platform.
If we need to cancel a class, we will notify you as soon as possible and return the session to your account.
Class cancellations
If you can't attend a booked class, please cancel at least 6 hours before the class start time. This allows someone on the waitlist to take your spot.
Cancellation more than 6 hours before class: the session is returned to your account.
Late cancellation (within 6 hours of class): the session is forfeited.
No-show: the session is forfeited.
For members, a forfeited session counts towards that week's class allowance.
All cancellations must be made via the Slow Burn Pilates app.
Waitlist
If a class is fully booked, you can join the waitlist via the Slow Burn Pilates app.
How the waitlist works
Waitlist places are offered in the order people joined the waitlist.
When a spot becomes available, the first person on the waitlist is automatically booked into the class and notified by SMS and email.
Waitlist bookings close 30 minutes before class. After this time, any available spots are open for general booking.
Good to know
Joining the waitlist does not guarantee you a spot.
It's your responsibility to check your notifications from the Slow Burn Pilates app.
Please only join waitlists for classes you can attend.
Once you're booked into a class from the waitlist, our standard cancellation and late cancellation policies apply.
Arriving for class
Please arrive in time to be ready to start at the scheduled class time.
First-time clients must arrive at least 10 minutes before class to complete a studio orientation. For health and safety reasons, we reserve the right to refuse participation to first-time clients who do not arrive at least 10 minutes before the class start time.
If you're not present by the class start time, your spot may be given to someone on the waitlist.
If you arrive more than 5 minutes late, you may not be able to join the class, and the session will be forfeited. This helps limit disruption to other participants and keeps your instructor’s attention on the class already underway.
Grip socks must be worn in all classes for safety and hygiene. They are available to purchase at the studio.
Personal property
You are responsible for any personal property you bring to the studio, including items left in storage areas. We are not liable for any loss, theft or damage to personal property, except to the extent caused by our negligence or wilful misconduct.
Behaviour
All clients are expected to behave respectfully toward staff and other clients.
We reserve the right to refuse service, or to cancel a class pack or membership, for inappropriate, unsafe, offensive or disruptive behaviour. In these cases, no refund will be provided, except where required by law.
Age, children and animals
For safety reasons:
Clients must be at least 16 years of age. Clients aged 16 and 17 must have parental consent to participate.
Children are not permitted in the studio during classes.
Pets are not permitted in the studio, except registered assistance animals.
